September 14th is National Sober Day, a day recognized for those reflecting on their journey with sobriety. This day also sheds light on the journey of alcohol addiction, treatment and recovery.
In part with National Sober Month, National Sober Day was founded in 2019 by ‘Real Aligned Women’ who identify themselves as a ‘sisterhood for sobriety’. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration also endorses the day. Millions of people suffer from substance abuse, and the organizations wanted to remind those that are struggling that they are not alone. This day provides the opportunity to renew the commitment to staying sober or marking the start of a journey to getting sober.
Substance abuse is an epidemic that affects millions of people around the world. If you feel like you’re struggling, please know that there is help available. You can find more information about help on the UPMC website.
